The GSEO Score

The GSEO Score

The GSEO Score is EYE's proprietary composite metric that measures your brand's overall performance across AI platforms. It's a single number from 0 to 100 that tells you how well AI platforms know, recommend, and represent your brand.

Score Components

The GSEO Score is calculated from four weighted components:

Visibility (25%)

How often AI platforms mention your brand when users ask relevant questions.

  • High visibility = Your brand appears in most relevant AI responses
  • Low visibility = AI platforms rarely mention your brand, even for queries in your category
  • Measured as: mention frequency relative to total queries and competitor mentions

Position (25%)

Where your brand appears in AI responses — first, second, third, or buried at the bottom.

  • Position 1 = AI mentions your brand first (strongest signal)
  • Position 5+ = Your brand is mentioned but not prominently
  • Not mentioned = Worst case — AI doesn't include you at all
  • Measured as: average position across all queries where your brand appears

Sentiment (25%)

How positively AI platforms describe your brand.

  • Positive = AI uses favorable language ("highly recommended", "excellent", "trusted")
  • Neutral = AI mentions your brand without strong opinion
  • Negative = AI uses unfavorable language ("complaints", "issues", "not recommended")
  • Measured as: weighted sentiment score across all mentions

Quality (25%)

How detailed, accurate, and comprehensive the AI's knowledge of your brand is.

  • High quality = AI provides specific, accurate details about your products, features, and differentiators
  • Low quality = AI gives vague, generic, or incorrect information about your brand
  • Measured as: response completeness and factual accuracy assessment

Score Ranges

ScoreRatingWhat It Means
80-100ExcellentAI platforms strongly favor your brand. You're well-positioned.
60-79GoodSolid presence with room for improvement in specific areas.
40-59AverageAI platforms know your brand but don't prioritize it. Significant opportunity.
20-39WeakLimited AI visibility. Competitors likely dominate your category.
0-19CriticalAI platforms barely know your brand exists. Urgent action needed.

How to Improve Your Score

Each component can be improved through different strategies:

ComponentHow to Improve
VisibilityIncrease brand mentions across authoritative sources that AI platforms cite
PositionStrengthen your brand's association with key category terms and queries
SentimentAddress negative narratives, build positive brand signals, manage reviews
QualityEnsure accurate, detailed brand information is available on sources AI trusts

The Action Plan automatically generates specific actions targeting your weakest GSEO components. If your sentiment score is dragging down your overall GSEO, the plan will prioritize sentiment-improvement actions.

Score Evolution

Your GSEO Score is tracked across every analysis run, building a time series that shows:

  • Overall trend — Is your score improving or declining?
  • Component trends — Which specific components are changing?
  • Competitor comparison — How does your score trend compare to competitors?
  • Impact measurement — Did your optimization efforts move the needle?

Score vs. Competitors

The GSEO Score is most valuable in context. A score of 65 might be excellent in a category where the leader scores 70, or weak in a category where competitors score 85+. Always compare your score against:

  • Category leader — The highest-scoring brand in your market
  • Direct competitors — Brands you compete with most directly
  • Category average — The mean score across all tracked brands
